I believe that anyone can become a global dealmaker if they have the right mindset and the right skills. If you're willing to put in the work, I know you can achieve your goals.
I've visited 102 countries and I've learned a lot about M&A deals. I've realized that the best countries to do deals in are the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. But I'd also add New Zealand, Singapore, and Hong Kong to the list.
These countries have strong economies and a lot of businesses that are ripe for acquisition. They also have well-developed legal and financial systems that make it easy to do M&A deals.
If you want to be a global dealmaker, you need to have four things:
A global mindset. You need to understand the different cultures, regulations, and business practices in different countries. This is essential for building trust and rapport with people from all over the world.
The ability to build relationships. You need to be able to connect with people on a personal level and build relationships that can withstand the test of time. This is especially important in the world of M&A, where trust is essential for closing deals.
Strategic thinking. You need to be able to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems. This is what will set you apart from the competition and help you close deals that others can't.
Risk management. You need to be able to identify and mitigate risks. Global dealmaking is inherently risky, so you need to be able to make calculated decisions and manage your risks accordingly.
If you have these four things, you're well on your way to becoming a successful global dealmaker.
Here are some additional tips for becoming a global dealmaker:
Get out there and network. The best way to learn about the global business environment is to meet people from different countries and cultures. Attend industry events, join online forums, and reach out to people on LinkedIn.
Read books and articles about global business. There are a lot of great resources available that can help you learn about the global business environment. Read books by experts in the field, subscribe to industry publications, and listen to podcasts.
Get experience in different countries. If you can, get some experience working in different countries. This will give you a first-hand understanding of the different cultures and business practices that you'll encounter as a global dealmaker.
Be patient and persistent. It takes time and effort to become a successful global dealmaker. Don't get discouraged if you don't close your first deal right away. Keep learning, keep networking, and keep pushing forward.
Hope this helps !
